LitWorld’s mission is to cultivate literacy leaders worldwide through transformational literacy experiences that build connection, understanding, resilience and strength. We work with teachers, parents, community members, and children to support the development of literacy and the redemptive power of story in the world’s most vulnerable communities.
LitWorld has innovated a groundbreaking Three Year Humanitarian Literacy Strategy through work with our Pilot Partners, including The Red Rose School and The Children of Kibera Foundation in Nairobi, Kenya.
This program nurtures and empowers community members of all ages to become literacy leaders in their own communities through this four-step process:
Discovery: Work directly with communities
Inplementation: Conduct teacher leadership trainings and women’s empowerment workshops
Identification: Nurture local community members to become literacy leaders
Transformation: Local community members become teachers of reading and writing and empowered literacy leaders their own communities
